Changing the Landscape of Gender Inequality in Ethiopia
Despite the colourful diversity of Ethiopia’s landscape one view remains unchanged: that of a woman striving to provide for her family. The scene is subject to variations – women carrying heavy loads of firewood and water in blazing heat; women cooking and cleaning for many young children and elderly grandparents; women reduced to nothing unless owners of livestock or owned by men.
The result, however, is the same: a life of struggle, ill health, and a constant battle to safeguard a family’s livelihood from the impacts of climate change.
